Almunajem Foods Co. said that the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) imposed a temporary suspension on one of its poultry product categories imported from a country that has reported bird flu cases, according to a bouse filing today, May 30.

The move falls within the framework of the periodic and continuous review by the SFDA of new developments related to food safety.

Accordingly, Almunajem Foods informed to the SFDA on May 29, clarifying that the procedures adopted by the supplier ensures safety of the products in line with the standards adopted by the food industry.

The company assured that the supplier provided the required documents declaring the safety of said products. Accordingly, the SFDA has been requested to lift the temporary suspension.

Almunajem Foods has sufficient stock of poultry products to last for several weeks, the statement said.

The financial impact of this event cannot be quantified currently, as it depends on the date when the temporary suspension will be lifted.

Any relevant developments will be disclosed in due time.
